The Seven Obligatory Acts of Hajj

  • Making Ihram from the Miqat
  • Being present/Remaining at ‘Arafah until  sunset [for pilgrims who have been present in the daytime]
  • Spending the night at Muzdalifah on the 9th Dhul Hijjah
  • Throwing at Jamrah Al-Aqabah [i.e. the one nearest to Makkah] on the Day of the Eid and throwing at all the three Jamrahs on the 11th, 12th, [and the 13th for those not in a hurry]
  • Shaving the head or cutting short its hair for men; cutting short its hair for women
  • Spending the night in Mina on the 11th, 12th, [and the 13th]
  • Farewell Tawaf [This marks the pilgrim’s final contact with the Ka’abah prior to his final departure from Makkah. Menstruating women are excused form it]
