The 8th of Dhul Hijjah: Heading to Mina

  • On the 8th of Dhul Hijjah (The Day of Tarwiyyah), pilgrims on Tamattu’ shall, from their respective residences, do exactly what they did at the Miqat while commencing the ‘Umrah. In other words, they should take bath, apply perfume on their body, assume the Ihram attire, perform the two raka’ahs as Sunnah of Ablution, make their intentions and verbal declarations, and commence the Talbiyyah, which they will not break until the 10th of Dhul Hijjah, when they will have thrown at Jamrah Al-Aqbah;
  • At forenoon, all pilgrims head for Mina, making the Talbiyyah. At Mina, they observe the Al-Zuhr; Al-‘Asr, Al-Maghrib, Al-’’Isha’, and Al-Subh. They are shortened [as applicable] and they are not combined together, i.e. each Salah is performed separately.
  • Part from the Talbiyyah, there is not a specific supplication received from the Prophet [s.a.w.s] to be made during the stay at Mina.
