Staying in Makkah till the 8th of Dhul Hijjah

  • Persons offering Tamattu’ will have completed the ‘Umrah and become free from the restrictions of the Ihram;
  • Persons offering Ifrad or Qiran will have had three options:
    1. They will have converted their Ihram into Tamattu’ and, therefore, will have performed the Sa’ay and shaved or cut their hair short. As explained earlier, this is the best thing for them in accordance with the instruction of the Prophet [s.a.w.s] if they have not brought along with them their Hadya from Al-Hillu;
    2. If they had brought their Hadya along with them from Al- Hillu, they could have chosen to delay the Sa’ay until on 10th Dhul Hijjah; or
    3. If they had brought their Hadya along with them from Al- Hillu, they could have chosen to perform the Sa’ay after the Tawaf Qudum. In both of these two cases, they will, therefore, not have shaved or cut their hair short. Rather, they will continue to remain in their state of Ihram and making Talbiyyah until 8th Dhul Hijjah, when they move from Makkah to Mina along with all the other pilgrims.
  • Whilst waiting for the 8th Dhul Hijjah, the pilgrims should make the best use of this period by:
    a)
    -Praying (i.e.performing Salah) as often as possible in Al- Masjid Al-Haram, as each Salah in Al-Masjid Al-Haram equals one hundred thousand Salahs performed elsewhere);
    b)
    Performing Tawaf Al-Tatawwi’ as often as possible, as Tawaf for Al-Afaqi is one of the best acts of worship in Al-Masjid Al- Haram.
